You’re a invited to the a showing of Hoima Bicycle (along with other documentaries and local films) at the Northwest Projections Film Festival.


Dates: Friday, April 17th at 4:30pm and Saturday, April 18th at 4:30pm.

NW Projections Film Festival 2009

NW Projections is back! The annual film festival that proves local filmmakers have great stories and the chops to tell them. From the streets of Bellingham and Seattle to dirt roads in Africa, there are moments both real and relevant to whimsical and timeless. Come see how NW filmmakers have painted the world on our screen.

Tickets: Unless noted, all films are regular Pickford prices:

Regular $8.25/Matinee $6.25/Member $5.25.

The Best Medicine (Lisa Spicer) Follows the work of the Slum Doctor Program in Rabour Village and Hama Bay, Kenya and the effects on children's lives left empty by the cruel hands of AIDS. 16 min; Hope Art (David Albright) Questions election time art inspired by Obama. 7 min; Sonic Healing (Dean & Dudley Evenson) Explores the use of sound, music and vibration to enhance the healing process. 23 min; Hoima Bicycle (Jason Morris) Filmed in Uganda, learn how the bicycle design process works for Ugandan couriers, known as Boda-boda. 30 min. Total: 76 min.

As we eagerly await the opening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, I noticed some interesting visual relationships in the vehicle designs shown in the trailer. It seems that the creative direction has been "variations on a familiar theme." The designers have taken the old vehicles from episodes 4 - 6 and done small modifications to upgrade them for 30 years later. copyright Lucasfilm Rey's Speeder Rey's speeder is essentially the same form as Luke's but turned 90 degrees. Changing from a convertible 2 seater to a single rider vehicle. The weathered, desaturated orange body color is similar. The yellow orange striping is the same. And even the hemispherical wind screen is the same shape. Also notice how the strip grill in the front is the same.   Chair and ottoman design by Kelsey Leppek 2022 The industrial design class of Western Washington University 2022 exhibited their final chair design prototypes at HenryBuilt in Seattle, WA, USA. June 10.  A one night only exhibition. This set was made with bent steel tubing and fabric cushions. It was a packed crowd at the first graduate exhibition for WWU ID since 2019. Side chair by Brianna Brown 2022. Bent plywood connection detail. Brianna Brown. Bent plywood chair by Rafer Stromme. The two plywood forms are connected with a cast aluminum form. Transformable furniture design by Trinity Montgomery 2022. By changing the orientation and tying the braided rope this piece converts to various forms. Arm chair and side table by Dylan Willis 2022. This chair is made from aluminum sheet, cushions, and bolted together. It can be disassembled and packaged flat. Lounge chair of bent steel and felt by Bo Baird 2022.
