ReMade 2013: New Housewares Designs from Repurposed Materials
Aidan Borer created his Bottl storage containers from recycled wine bottles and capped them with hand-turned reclaimed fir. The Industrial Design Juniors students at Western Washington University have been hard at work, designing and fabricating new houseware designs made of repurposed materials. They were debuted at the Ideal shop in Bellingham, WA last week, and are only available there. The project was led by Prof. Arunas Oslapas. Captions were written by the staff at Ideal and photos are by Jason Morris. Each is painted with a band of chalkboard paint to label the vessel's contents. Louie Dawson's Cast Off yo-yos are made using discarded office chair wheels. Dawson took apart each wheel and reassembled with an inset made from scrap hardwood.
