ID [PNW]

by Kirk Turner This year in my design class the assignment was to take the 2012 Specialized Enduro mountain bike and redesign it's colors and graphics using Adobe Illustrator.  The students started with an underlay provided by Specialized and were to recreate the frame and some key components and then add reflections and shading.  It was a one week project and these are sophomore industrial design students. by Jonathan Mayfield by Rosalee Daughtry by Mauricio Romano by Leon Wolfendale by Gary Liljebeck bicycle t-shirts, stickers, iPhone cases and other gear.

These are student design concept renderings for color and graphics for the Specialized Shiv time trial bicycle 2011.   This is for my sophomore ID software skills course at Western Washington University, where we learn Illustrator, Photoshop, Rhinoceros, and Bunkspeed Shot.   I had them pick one of the pro teams that Specialized sponsors and use their colors and graphics.  These were done in Adobe Illustrator only, as they were learning how to use the pen tool and other features for ID rendering.   All designs are copyright to their respective designers. bicycle t-shirts, stickers, iPhone cases and other gear.

Jon Takao was recently hired as an industrial designer for Specialized Bicycle and is a recent graduate of Western Washington University's Industrial Design Program, class of 09.  He will be speaking on Thursday, May 27th, at 5:30pm in room 347 of the Ross Engineering Building.  He will be telling the story of how he ended up getting his dream job within a year of graduation.  (When most of us have to do some crappy point-of-purchase displays before moving on to something better....ahem.)  And his impressions of the cycling industry.  See you there.
