Carrie Ferrence - Stockbox Grocers

Carrie Ferrence

Co-owner, Stockbox Grocers

Carrie originally hails from rural Pennsylvania, where she was raised by a 4th-generation corner store owner. While rural life provided her with a strong foundation in social equity, hard work, and long hikes, Carrie discovered her true path by way of a diverse and meaningful career in international development, construction salvage, and education.  She is co-owner of Stockbox Grocers, a miniature grocery that is tucked inside a reclaimed shipping container and placed into a parking lot, to bring good food to more people. Carrie brings to her work more than 10 years experience in strategic planning and retail management for small business, and advocacy for non-profits.

Carrie will be presenting at the IDSA Western Design Dialogue Conference 2012
Seattle, May 4th and 5th.

Session Title: Prototyping to Launch a Lean Start-up & a Revolution

Stockbox launched a prototype store in Fall 2011, to test a brand new approach to grocery store design. This two month journey, inside a Mobile Mini construction trailer, re-shaped the company's understanding of their customer, the problem they were solving, and the approach needed to really launch the business and a good food revolution. Join Carrie as she deconstructs their approach to continuous prototyping and highlights how lessons learned will be integrated into their new store design and evolving business plan.

More speakers will be featured here and listed on the IDSA website.
